III. The AI Novel-writing Tool Everyone Hates
Sudowrite's Story Engine was used to generate a roughly 22,500-word cyberpunk novella called The Electric Sea. The novella relied human guidance, but every final line was created by hitting a "Generate" button. Story Engine puts text generation into every step of the process, expanding a human-generated idea into a finished product. The AI was strongest when pitched a broad idea with specific commands like "use vivid sensory literary prose focusing on small details." While the process was vastly faster than normal writing speed, the AI-generated prose was corny and relied on cliches.
II. The Art of Prompt Engineering
Prompt engineering is the process of fine-tuning the text prompt that a user submits to generative AI models in order to obtain specific results. Effective prompt engineering allows AI models to perform various roles, with different models suited to specific tasks. Prompt engineering can be used for marketing, content production, advertising, and customer experience, and involves several types of prompting, to include zero-shot, one-shot, few-shot, and Chain of Thought (CoT). Marketers can leverage generative AI to improve marketing campaigns and create engaging content.
I. AI Creeps Into the ‘Functional’ Music Market
Universal Music Group has partnered with Endel, an AI-driven functional music company, to create soundscapes for relaxing or studying. Endel's technology can process the stems of tracks and create soundscapes that blend with the background and are scientifically engineered to put listeners in a certain cognitive state. The functional music market is estimated to be 15 billion streams a month, and major labels are trying to take over a chunk of the market.
